Hello, My wife and I were lucky to visit Amsterdam this last
Spring—it’s a really wonderful city! Amsterdam & the Netherlands were
really amazing- I have never seen a country with such excellent planning, including
Germany, Sweden and Norway. Half of the country is below sea level, so they
have been forced by nature to be people that consider long-term goals on a
daily basis. The country has doubled in geographic area over the last 200 years
through arduous planning. It’s a dream I have for Minnesota, where we are from-
that we use our resources fully to make everything convenient, low energy,
safe, tolerant, and free. I really respect the Dutch now that I’ve visited;
prior, I thought Holland was a silly, cliche tourist destination built on
legalized marijuana and prostitutes, but this is an infinitesimal part of Dutch
ideals- they respect both personal choice and communal necessity. It is a
beautiful system that I wish Americans would consider coopting, at least
partially.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be making the following posts:
The Sex Museum - Beware, slightly NSFW!
And coming soon:
The Amsterdam Dungeon and Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum
The Van Gogh Museum
My favourite photos from around Amsterdam
Villages outside of Amsterdam
Keukenhof Garden
The Windmills of Zaanse Schaans
The Rijksmuseum
And of course, a final post on Dutch Food!
I hope you will subscribe to keep up with my weekly updates!
